I am a trained vocalist with a background in Hindustani Classical Music
Vaishali Sinha is a versatile vocal artiste with a keen interest in several genres of music. She received a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University in 2017. With a background in Hindustani Classical Music, Vaishali believes in pushing boundaries and improvising with different styles of music to accomplish a greater freedom of expression. Having started her musical journey at a very young age under the guidance of her mother, Smt. Barnali Sinha, she is presently under the tutelage of Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and Sri Anol Chatterjee.
Vaishali has performed at several events, conferences and theatre festivals in and around the city and has secured the first position in many music competitions. She emerged as the winner in Bhajan at the 72nd All India Music Competition organized by Murari Smriti Sangeet Sammilani in the year 2012. In 2014, Vaishali got the opportunity to render an individual performance as a student of Shrutinandan alongside her guru, the legendary Indian classical vocalist, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and the tabla virtuoso, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee in an episode of "Aaj Sakaler Amantrane" dedicated to the great Guru Jnan Prakash Ghosh on Tara Muzik. She also received guidance in vocal music from the renowned music composer, Sri. Goutam Ghosal. In 2016, she got the chance to perform along with the National Award winning singer-songwriter, Sri Rupankar Bagchi in one of his own theatrical productions.
She performed at the 71st Tuesday Concert of Shrutinandan dedicated to Late Pandit Arun Bhaduri held at the prestigious Guru Jnan Prakash Sanctum on December 18, 2018 and at the first-ever Thumri Festival in Kolkata, conceived and presented by Guru Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata on April 13, 2019. Vaishali has won numerous accolades from many stalwarts in the music industry in her journey so far. Apart from performing in various musical programmes organized by Shrutinandan, Vaishali has participated in several radio shows and sung for the popular Bengali T.V. Serial, “Amar Durga” on Zee Bangla. She has been the leading brain behind designing the music layout for an upcoming feature film, "Anubhuti" by the independent filmmaker, Anirban Dutta, where she has also contributed as the lead vocalist and has led the film to its musicscape.
